PS workbench – is this birch wood?

Hi, new on here, and newish to woodworking and I’m starting my version of the workbench. I’m using these pallet wood bearers that are available locally. I assumed they were spruce or something but I’m starting to think they might be birch. Any thoughts?

They are birch. You can tell by the bark on the one piece. It is smooth and papery. also, the growth rings in the wood are not as prominent as in most pines. The wood will also feel denser, harder, and smoother.
