    Hello all,
It seems that the Eclipse 9´ QR Vice has not been available for some time in Europe, has anyone suggestions for something similar in quality? I would love an older Record, but since Brexit the import costs, taxes and duties have made ordering anything from England quite expensive.

Look at the York brand sold by http://www.fine-tools.com

    Or directly, from York.cz
Pinie.cz also sell them, but search their site for vice, not vise.

    Hi Orestis,

I’d vote for york as well. I use now for years their quick release vice as well as carpenters vices, they do work for me very well. No problems

I bought a 9″ Yost vice on Amazon about a year ago. Easy to mount to the bench, and the quick release mechanism works smoothly. I’ve been very pleased with it. Considering the mass of metal in it, I thought the price was quite reasonable as well. But I have no idea whether it’s available in Europe or not.

i remember Paul Sellers not recommending York vices because of some problems with the quality of the metal used, maybe they have improved since then?

Orestis, have you found a suitable quickrelease vice in mainland Europe?

In about 2-3months I’m planning to start on my own workbench and I’m in the same boat regarding the vice.

I have a York vise (the biggest) and I’m quite happy with it.
I can and do recommend to keep the threads clean from (saw)dust before closing the vise !
If you don’t the half nut that engages the the threads will clog up quite fast..

Oh and do mark the bars relative position to the moving jaw, in case you have to take it apart.
Don’t ask me how I know that one…

    Got mine from fine-tools btw
