Hi, any one have any experience with red gum,. the domestic American kind and not the Australian kind? I had never heard of it (though I guess it is not uncommon) until someone gave me a pile of wood he had sitting around for many years. The wood had come from a guitar making factory. I only knew it was red gum since one piece had R. Gum written on it along with other standard markings. I figured “R. Gum” could be the sort of wood and looked it up. Voila! (I do not know what some of the other woods are) . I looked it up and apparently it has been used in various kinds of furniture, turnings etc., as well as in guitars once in a while.
