I wanted to set saw teeth with a finer setting than the Eclipse-77 allows (No.12).
Paul demonstrates setting for the finest cut, then uses his hammer-in-the-vice technique to gently tap the teeth, reducing the set further.
I inserted a thick washer behind the Anvil of my Eclipse-77, and can now dial-in the finer sets I need, direct from the pliers. Accurate, faster, and less skill.
Not as ground-breaking as my washer-in-the-803-Hand-Drill, but useful nonetheless.
Interesting but I’m not sure I follow. Did you replace the round plate the tooth contacts when the anvil bends it????
Try continental style setting pliers. They are fully adjustable for amount of set and tooth size. I used some to set a ripsaw I made from an old hardpoint saw. Got just enough set to let the plate pass through the kerf, a great aid to straight cuts.
