Here is an interesting use of the router plane as a means of rabbeting. The presenter created a jig for the fence that controls the width of the rabbet. It is in German but you don’t need to understand the language to appreciate the technique.
I don’t have a rebate plane with a snicker so I have made end grain rebate like a one sided tenon, using the router to refine it.
I have used my plow plane to make small rebate on the long grain side.
Despite improvements, I still need to check my rebating very frequently to avoid bevelling the bottom.
Having always found setting up the Veritas double gauge a chore, my already long donkey ears grow substantially longer over not realising that the setup can be done by the ends of the rods.
