We are all likely to be ‘switched on’ whilst actively using a chisel and keep our fingers behind the cutting edge. But the blade is just as sharp when brushing the loose chips away with your left hand whilst holding the chisel in your right. Luckily only a tiny scratch, but a useful lesson to be aware of tool edges all the time, not just while the tool is doing its job…
It seems like every time I use my plow or rebate plane my left hand fingers get nicked by the inner blade edge, so i’ve taken to putting a bandaid over that part of the blade, doesn’t look very professional, but….helps a lot. My wife is amused.
