At first let me excuse myself – I know it might be irrelevant to post about 3rd parties here, but I really have not a better idea, and I believe someone here could say something.
Has any one of you seen anything like “Second chance antique tools” ebay seller or “Plane Collector” channel on youtube? One guy was making pretty interesting videos about hand planes restorations, also as an illustration to his ebay auctions. You may know him by his characteristic, crazy wood-shavings wigs he was wearing on his videos 🙂
By a day or two ago everything (ebay and Youtube channel) dissappeared, probably deleted (intentionally???). His name, publications and e-mail can be found here and there, but I won’t post it down here, just in case he actually wants to be forgotten…
I am not really into buying/collecting planes, but I have found his videos enjoyable and informative, thus I am curious what has happened.

The Plane Collector Youtube channel was probably one of the best Youtube channels to learn how to restore hand planes taking into account functionality and aesthetics as well…

Found a post on lumber jocks saying he’s ok and taking a break. Sad to see another great channel go down. I miss Graham Haydon too. He had started making great content. Thank goodness we still have Paul and team. Best money I spend every month, hoping it helps to keep them going.
I liked watching him too. I liked the way we’d be on the journey of discovery with an obscure tool, along with him. Also Wranglestar(?) and Mitch Peacock.
Perhaps they have a disadvantage without paid-for subscription content to subsidise tool restoration videos?23 May 2022 at 1:22 am #760762Just saw this old post. Yes, YouTuber Plane Collector I have recently discovered after catching plane fever. His videos are still up.
Last ones dated 4 years ago. He did a good job and does a nice explanation of his
methods. I truly hope he is well and miss his postings.23 May 2022 at 1:25 am #760763Just saw this old post. Yes, YouTuber, Plane Collector. I have recently discovered his channel after catching plane fever. His videos are still up.
