Has anybody tried to make the Stanley folding knife sharpening fixture Paul outlined in his blog I tried but did not have good results
I did, since I didn’t get very good results on the diamond plates. It was working fine for just marking, but not for any other cutting. I misinterpreted the pictures of the jig the first time. Second attempt was a little rough, but very effective. When marking, you could hear the point cutting like never before, and the rest of the blade was sharp for other cutting. Keep trying.
Hi Eric
I give up on the holding fixture, I found by using a piece of wet and dry stuck down to a piece of float glass I could get a very good edge on the blade I could tip the blade slightly to the required angle and pull the knife and blade towards me , and then reverse and push the knife and blade away from me. Hope this makes sense but it was a quick and effective method.
I did notice but it did seem like the clamp was getting in the way. The 11 degrees also did not seem enough
i use exact same method as you david with wet and dry and found it to be very effective
