I think David Gill had this idea.
I did not want to fork out a lot of money for split nut driver. So I made one instead.
Cutting the spade bit was hard used two 12″ hacksaw blades and just about made a deep enough cut. I then snapped end of then I ground end to thickness and size,I noticed bit was made in Japan.
I then used edge of a flat file to make indentation so would not be hindered by machine screw. I hate using files on stuff as hard as this just ruins file.
I was thinking of heating up with blow torch to make metal softer but my blow torch was berried under mountains of stuff.
I used one of my saw file handles which I got from Workshop Heaven.
Quite pleased with the result.
That is very nice. Get a dremel tool with cutoff blades. A coppy brand with bits costs about $25 US.at HD

Never thought of using Dremel type tool doh .
I have one to hand as well.
Looks good Mark those spade bits are tough.
It was not my idea I think it was George that first mentioned using spade bits to make screwdrivers.
It was from your Post that I remembered it David.
You made a fine job your screwdriver.
