I just finished, today, my latest project… a split-top saw bench. It’s pictured, here, as the second coat of Danish oil is drying up. I have really been looking forward to finishing this one, as I have had a bit of trouble, in my small shop, sawing comfortably. This is really going to help. The feet are draw bored through with oak dowels. It is very solid. This was my first experience with draw boring. I’m also adding a few bench holes for holdfasts when it dries up.
Thanks for looking! 🙂

I didn’t know this kind of bench, so thank you very much for posting.17 March 2014 at 1:25 am #28983Jay, I think these sawbenches are finely crafted and deserve to posted to the “Other Projects” category in the gallery. Your saw bench and Ricardo’s saw horses are great projects that deserve to be there. They are inspiring and show skilled work.
17 March 2014 at 3:00 pm #28989Jay – Really nice work, both execution and design. Looks like it would has advantages over the classic saw horse like design for sawing – plus it would make a nice exercise bench. Are there plans available for this?
Cheers
