At $95.00 for the spokeshave above, that works out at around £43.00? Considering it’s built from Stainless steel and brass, I don’t think that’s overly expensive, or is it?

I don’t think it’s overly expensive either. That’s just about the same price as the Veritas wooden handled spokeshave. I like how the brass ones receive the individual attention from a single person making them. It’s not a stretch to imagine that there must be a good deal of pride and detail that go into each one. The Veritas one, I think, are factory made, albeit a good factory :). I just got mine, and there are a few areas and tolerances that leave a bit to be desired, I think. But that’s me 🙂 When I pay a fairly premium price for a new tool I get more picky.
I have owned and they are very good, I still have their small bronze router plane which also looks and works very well. I like wooden handled spokeshave like the Dictum (Veritas looking spokeshave, the Veritas or the LN Boggs or Fine Tools Juuma/Luban LN copy. Dictum and Fine Tools ships reasonably and quick to Canada’ but LV is free shipping. LN shipping outside the US is prohibited unless you don’t mind paying $135 USD for their only option. Chris Schwartz, as far as everything I’ve read in his books and blog recommends the Veritas flat and found. I was looking at Dictums adjustable spokeshaves but couldn’t find anyone who has them.
