Guys, I picked up a Stanley 61 marking gauge in really nice shape… almost looks new. If you haven’t seen these, they are the basic model with bare wood. This one will be a user tool and, in fact, will probably see a good bit of use.
I’m thinking about putting a natural finish on it just to add some durability and I think it would look nice. Just wondered if anyone had thoughts on whether a wooden tool like this should be re-finished. If it was a really old and collectible piece I probably wouldn’t think about doing it, but I’m leaning toward doing it on this one.
Any thoughts are welcome… thanks! 🙂
