Hello woodworkers! I recently bought a new wooden ECE Scrub Plane to replace my old one. This plane gives me strange planning marks I’ve never seen before. Look at the attached picture – they are the vertical ones to my plane direction. I thought that it might be due to a dull blade but I get the same marks even after sharpening my blade. Also I tried to secure the wedge properly by a few stronger mallet taps, but no luck so far. Any idea how to fix the plane or blade so I get rid of them? Thanks! Michael
Hej Michael,
If the blade is firmly secured, then it seems tenable that the culprit is a non-flat blade or bed; making the blade pivot forwards and backwards. Seems reasonable that the seller should accept to replace the plane.

Thanks Sven-Olof, I checked the blade and it is indeed bended in length. The plane bed is OK. I’ll check with the seller if they can send me a replacement. Thank you!
