I know you guys have seen this guys videos before and, maybe you’ve seen this one. I just now saw it and thought, if you haven’t seen it, you might enjoy it. I did.

Yeah, that is by far the best one I’ve seen built. I don’t have much experience with lathes, but from what I know of larger CNC machines, the stiffness of the structure determines how well they will cut more difficult material. I’d have to assume that applies to how well a lathe will cut as well. His seems much sturdier than the other designs I’ve seen. The weight of the flywheel also has to help a lot. He says he plans to do another video with more detailed build instructions.

For anyone that can’t wait, here is the link to someone else’s plans that he mentioned, and a link to a Sketchup model of the plans for the one Roy Underhill builds as well.

    Thanks Ken.

    Hey Eddie,

If you click on the little youtube logo in the bottom right hand corner, a new window (or tab) will open with that youtube page. Then click his channel name and you can view all his videos.

If that youtube logo isn’t showing up in your browser (it doesn’t show in mine, I think the video “box” is too small) …here’s the url.
