An alternative method for securing boards down to your workbench top if you don’t have a tail vice. This method uses a holdfast together with a simple batten with bird’s mouth notch.
LIke that idea but i cannot put hold fast on my bench. As there is a shelf underneath top which holds most of my planes 🙁

I like that idea. Especially since I don’t have a tail vise and, I don’t think I’ll be getting one anytime soon. But, I *_do_* have a few holdfasts.
