Hi
I was wondering if anyone else from Brisbane Australia was on here and if so where do they get their wood from?
30 October 2015 at 3:15 am #131895I have a look at bootle. I’d spoken to brittons previously and I didn’t get a wholesale amount they wanted to charge an extra $60.
Thanks 🙂
I’ve bought from Bootle, they’re pretty friendly. Watts wood is also pretty good, http://www.wattswood.com.au/ they have some wood out in racks that you can browse and pieces for turners as well. Both businesses are cash or bank deposit (no eftpos).
If you’re after slabs, gumtree and eBay usually have quite a few listings but most of the slabs are not dried.

Tom, I live near Samford. I bought a large quantity of Vic Ash DAR in different sizes for my Roubo work bench from http://www.lazaridestimber.com.au and was pretty happy with it and the service. Where Do you live?
16 February 2016 at 12:26 pm #134818Hi
I live not far from you at Ferny hills. I’ve purchased timber from lazarides previously but they announced a little while ago that they were only going to deal in wholesale amounts which is certainly more than I can afford/need/have storage space from.
I’ve only had the one dealing with him about 2 years ago. I was impressed. I wonder if you and I could pool our requirements. I work out of a 3-bay shed on my 5 acre property. So, I’ve got a reasonable amount of storage space already and can make more room if necessary. Maybe we could order from Lazarides by aggregating our requirements?
Obviously we both subscribe to the same woodworking phylosophy and because you live neaarby, I’d be interested to correspond further off-line.
Regards
Gordon
