Finished three totes…one is a little deeper the other two are per Paul’s given dimensions. I used turks head knots as handle keepers instead of a wooden peg and added rose head cut nails for decoration and to balance with the turks head knots. I also rounded all of the sharp corners using the same technique that Paul showed on the thru tenon of the workbench build. Lot of fun and a lot of practice with the housing dado.

13 January 2013 at 8:16 pm #6463Excellent work, Gregory! Especially the idea of the turks head knots. How did you do them?
George.

13 January 2013 at 8:40 pm #6464Thanks for all of the kind words everyone. Knot tying is my other passion, I’m a member of the IGKT (International Guild of Knot Tyers) < http://igkt.net > . Here is a screenshot from Stuart Grainger’s book, “Creative Ropecraft”. Give it a try, it is a very handy knot to know.

Hi Gregory, I am also a fan of knot tying, even though I do not do it as often as I should like. Everybody should know how to tie knots, it is a basic necessity in my opinion. There are several videos on you tube and I like the ones of TIAT or Tying it all together. Tying knots is very relaxing, much like woodworking. Also Askwoodman has an excelent video series on knot tying for woodworkers that everybody should check it out.

9 March 2013 at 4:18 pm #9059Carrying Tote reference sheet….fair warning….my drawing is based on 5 1/2″ wide wood….here is the US a 1″x6″ board is only 3/4″x5 1/2″….so I set my drawing up for this…that way I can buy a single board and put one of these together for a gift when needed.
