Go to the web sit Cornish woodworker there is a lot on shooting there and links to more…I would make a sled for the table saw very little danger.
Rase the outboard end most of the angle and tilt the blade to get on target. Use KIS I think your are over thinking itFrankj
13 August 2014 at 1:27 am #60312The board has to be raised vertically and the table has to be tilted 22.5° to get a combined angle of 135° so on the shooting board the timber which is supporting the timber to be shot has to have an angle of 22.5° plus be big enough to support the resting piece which means to me is to layer upon layer of timber and that’s just ridiculous but if I made something that can be raised and lowered to what ever angle I desire then this would be ideal. BTW I did use an angle of 125° in this instance and that was a mistake the correct angle should of been 135°.
The donkey ears shooting board would work great for the feet and shelves I suppose if I made one to suit the 135° angle that would work. I just got that idea from the link frankj posted.

Sled with an adjustable riser on the left side you could rise the board to a angle close to what you need and then tilt the blade till you get the corect angel if you don’t have the table saw making a jig to hold two boards at a close angle and then split the cut. Like a tall two sided miter? Or you could foget the angle cut make a fitted slot and pin with dowes or blind tennons.
..? Food for thought….Frankj

Frankj18 August 2014 at 4:20 am #61387Thanks mate I appreciate it. At this present I’m trying a variety of ways to make a walking cane from Pauls lessons. I hav made already and is drying at the moment but I’m looking to make another three and see if they sell or not. I’m giving away two so it will be one left. I want to speed the process up so I resorted to my lathe why I thought making those twists would work bewilders me. Anyhow I’m experimenting on different with different styles until I can come up with one that I’m happy with.
By the when I mentioned earlier about the particular finish I’m after it’s the type you get on a lathe.
