Welcome! / Forums / General Woodworking Discussions / Finishing / Ungluing a glued up dovetail box frame
I glued up a dovetail box and forgot to check it for squareness when I put it together right away after glue up…..I hastily glued up the box then immediately glued it to the base.
Not realizing the frame was a
1/16th-1/8th off square in one corner until after I glued it to the base.
I looked all over and can’t find anything in particular (videos or articles) on ungluing dovetail joints on a box frame.
I found general tips such as heating with a heat gun, steaming, alcohol or diluted vinegar……
Any advice or tips?
My h appreciated thankyou
P.S.
Might be in the wrong forum…..
BTW
I used titebond OG glue……I may and in all actuallity probly will just leave as is. My gut tells me, I’m not going to be able to pull it apart with damaging the wood even after heating or wetting with vinegar or acetone……
I could just keep it for myself as a tool holder of sorts……
