Excited about my latest eBay purchase, a Disston tenon saw, I hurried to the garage to get it in working order. I was hesitant to start sharpening it as I had only practiced once before. I decided to go for it. I was very happy with how it turned out…until..I put the handle back on and realized I FILED ALL THE TEETH IN THE WRONG DIRECTION! Apparently with the handle off and the blade in the vise I got the toe end mixed up with the heel end.
Well, I got to practice another skill I had not yet attempted. Recutting saw teeth. I now have an 11 tpi tenon saw that works great. I’m kind of glad I screwed it up in the first place. The saw turned out even better I think.
lol I did the same thing 3 weeks ago without realising I converted a panel saw into a jap saw, only yesterday I got around to fixing it up.
