I went to the Victoria and Albert Museum last summer. They had a really interesting exhibit about this sort of work showing how they preserve and restore their pieces. Fascinating stuff. Be prepared for a bit of a climb though – the woodworking stuff is all at the top of the building. I went to look at the Grinling Gibbons carvings but there’s so much more there.
