Project is a little foot rest made out of scrap wood (with a padded/upholstered top) I had on hand made to the style of a simple shaker style table.
I’m filling it in with wood putty, might paint it but also might just do a clear shellac and make it a fun story about double checking whenever anyone notices. Possibly the worst part is I caught myself marking the wrong side on the piece I did just before this one.

D’oh! Looked like the glue was still liquid – no chance to pull it apart when you discovered the problem? If not, any chance you could make that little mortise a design feature? Maybe inlay something …
I could have pulled it apart but the mortise is on the wrong face so it probably wouldn’t have fit very well.
The inlay idea is interesting too, I might have to try that.
