I’m a complete beginner and managed to get hold of a 3m x 195 x 22mm piece of hardwood from work today, trouble is I haven’t got a clue what it is. I think it was being used for door thresholds. I thought oak at first but now I’m not so sure. Any ideas? Cheers, Dave.
it looks like Oak to me but unfortunatly i’m no expert by any stretch of the imagination
I agree with Eddy, looks like White Oak. White Oak will be a blonde or light brown color and has a sealed pore. Red Oak has a reddish hue and an open pore. Hope this helps.
Here is a good resource that a lot of us here use.
