Thanks for the positive words. This evening I rearranged my workspace a little. The old bench had to move from the golden spot to make room for my new baby π Maybe tomorrow I will install the well board, finish some details and decide about how to finish it. I may use Danish oil for the top and paint for the other components. With Danish oil the spruce turns orange which I don’t like very much. So I am not sure yet. But let me say something about the height of the bench. It’s about 38 inches which is around 5 inches higher then my other bench. That might be the best decision I made thanks to Paul of course. I can stand up straight while laying out joints, chiseling, planing and so on. It’s not only a pleasure for my back, but it also feels like I have more control.
ps. My wife gave birth to our second daughter last Thursday, this means I have two new babyβs now π Hopefully I still have time for woodworking π
Congratulations Michael, I hope both are well……. I’m 5 feet 9 inches tall and find 35 1/2 hight is just right for me, I think a lot depends on your leg length.
Very Best to all π
Great work on the bench and congratulations on the baby, Michael! I hope the family is doing well!
George.
Great looking bench Michael. Well done. That’s the kind of vise I should have bought.
Congratulations Michael….now everything you work with on your new bench you can connect to your new baby…it will provide for great memories!
Michael
Congratulations on birth of your daughter,
you will always know how old your bench is
David
Or how old my daughter is David π Just kidding.
Today I completed the overall construction. Just some finishing touches and of course the oil finish.
