Paul’s example…
Shoe Tidy by Phil Amos
Woods used were those available to hand. They include sycamore, sapele, nargusta (for the lid frame), reclaimed oak and birch plywood. The tambour was finished with shellac, with all other areas finished with matt polyurethane varnish.

100% reclaimed wood… All made with meranti from an old door recovered by a neighbour who’s a builder. Plywood for panels and shelves used to be subfloor, under laminate flooring, hence is was grubby and needed painting, (with emulsion and varnish) Mains structure finished with shellac and wax. Not without it’s challenges this one, but I’m pleased with the final result!

Shoe tidy in Oak, making the tambour was easier than expected and works great. If the lid had been made narrower by 10mm it would have been better for fixing the bracket on the stay.
