Trestle Table

Trestle Table by jmeir248
This was by far my most enjoyable project to date. Made from white oak, flat sawn (with the exception of the stretcher and feet). I used machines for the “donkey” work – rough cutting, thickness planing, ext. But, I used all hand tools for the joinery. It was my first time cutting the houndstooth. I also finally learned how to cut mortise correctly with my bench chisels.

American Oak version of Paul's trestle table upscaled to 2x1.2m, finished in clear satin Osmo oil/wax
Trestle Table by Geoff Taylor

Adapted Paul's design to more of a "farmhouse" look per my wife's request. Base is hard maple finished with milk paint and one coat of oil based varnish. Top is Oklahoma native black walnut sealed with shellac and finished with two coats of oil varnish. I received all the material rough sawn and performed all dimensioning and joinery with hand tools.
