Nice job Armand. I’ve yet to start my clock. It also looks as though you have a nice work area. May I ask where you live? I’m fascinated that Paul has fans all over the world. John
Thank you, it is a tiny-tiny work area really, and I still need to get rid of the old shabby table now that I’ve built a proper work bench. But it is a pleasant area indeed, now that it is converted into a little woodworking shop 🙂
I live in the Netherlands.
All others, thank you for your kind words as well!
6 March 2013 at 9:09 pm #8898So what do you do when you are waiting for your clock mechanism to arrive? That’s right, you start building another one 🙂 The one on the right is the first one, with the wood I had at hand I had to glue up a board to be broad enough for the face. For the second one I got different wood, though I don’t know how to tell you, my translator thinks both ‘vuren’ and ‘grenen’ are pine. The former has a somewhat sharper scent, and it’s nots stick to the wood, while with the former, they tend to come loose.
On my second attempt the mitered raised panel worked out much better, partly because I now had a “new” stanley #4 1/2 from eBay at my disposal (we go together quite well right of the bat 🙂 ), and partly because I’m getting better at slowing myself down when I need to.
I still need to improve a lot on accuracy, but I’m having a lot of fun getting there!Attachments:
