Sounds like the metal body is not sitting properly in the wooden sole. If it is not in perpendicular to the sole that will cause the whole frog assembly and the blade to be tilted to one side resulting in a heavier cut on one side. It may have been manufactured out if square originally. If you can’t adjust the body and sole relationship you can grind and sharpen the plane iron out of square. Or, you could plane the sole to match the angle of the blade if it does not open the mouth too much.
