Hi, thanks for the info so far, really appreciate it.
The planes in question are a Record 044C plough and a Record 778 rebate.
I’m no expert on this stuff but I was told on a forum that the screws were 3/16” 24 TPI.
On both planes, it is the fence/ rod adjustment screws I’m after.
Thanks again.
Paul7 April 2018 at 12:04 pm #519619Wow, thanks for that Alan.
I think three should do me for now but, never rule out a tool purchase.
They are all oiled up and polished, ready for a few years of boring work.
I did think of getting an adapter but, the larger one which takes the bigger auger bits.
I’ll have to see what happens. Thanks again
Paul2 April 2018 at 8:07 pm #516388That’s great.
I was hoping that the four jaw might mean I can use new auger bits in it.
It came with six tapered bits but, i’d like to use new ones if possible. Thanks gentlemen
Paul12 March 2018 at 8:54 am #495436Hi Gary.
In the end I just made my own. I got a length of 1/8″ tool steel from RS Compinents. I shaped them, hardened them with a pound shop disposable barbecue and then quenched them in peanut oil.
For a couple of hours work, I got a set from 3mm to 13mm in 1mm increments for under £10. That should cover everything I need I think.FYI, Axminster emailed me back and it looks like cutters for the Veritas plane will fit just fine.

I’ve emailed Axminster to see if they can give me a dimension for the Veritas cutters, i’m just waiting to hear back.
Thanks again.

7 December 2017 at 11:18 am #396104Hi Larry.
Thanks for the info but, those are just for the 044, they are not compatible with the 044C. I appreciate your help though.
Hi David.
If I can’t get what I need I may have to make one. Thanks for the help.
