  1. Since compas is set to radius, once the vertical and horizontal lines are marked the others could just be stepped off from where the vertical and horizontal cross the marked circle (like you were setting out two hexagons). Relies on the compas not being reset from when the circle is drawn.

  2. I want to expand on Tom’s comment. Once you draw the circle and have a vertical and horizontal line through the center. You can place the compass point on the 12 o’clock point where the vertical line intersects the top of the circle. Then you can swing an arc and it will mark the 10 and 2 o’clock points. You can do the same starting on the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock points, and then from the marks you’ve created, you can do all the others. I found this easier and more precise than Paul’s method.
