Project Houseful

On Friday 29th March 2019 Paul and Joseph picked up the keys to the house which marks the start of the next stage for the business. ‘Project Houseful’ is a temporary name we have given to our next project, filling a real home with handmade furniture.

Over the years we have built up a library of projects to train and inspire anyone from a weekend hobby woodworker, to those making a living from the craft. Paul’s aim has always been to make woodworking available to everyone. ‘Project Houseful’ will equip people with the knowledge and confidence they need to hand craft beautiful furniture pieces for their own home.

The Plan

Paul will be showing you how to create the furniture for a home one room at a time starting with the hub of many homes, the living room (also known as a ‘lounge’ or ‘sitting room’). We did a survey to give us an idea of the type of furniture people want and need in their living room, this was extremely useful and will help Paul with his designs. We will be running these surveys for each room so keep a look out on Paul’s blog for these.

The House

In this project Paul will be designing and showing you how to make all the pieces needed to furnish a home. To make sure this project is achievable for as many people as possible, we bought a ‘typical’ family home (this differs for each country, however we went with the average UK home) which would require the furniture that many people expect in a house. The downstairs of this house has a living room, dining room, kitchen and conservatory, upstairs there are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom and outside is a single car garage.

Current Stage

We are doing some building work on the house to improve the layout, all of which we have been filming to ensure you don’t miss a thing!

Very excited for this project!

Will Paul show some “structural” improvement? I am not sure it is the right word but by “structural” I mean, will it be strictly cabinet related or will you have videos on doors, windows, wainscoting maybe even elaborate flooring?
