Gallery Goodness, 16th August 2018
It’s a rainy Thursday morning here at ‘Sellers Central’. The dark grey skies hold the promise of bright green grass to come, but for now Paul’s workshop is an amber-lit beacon of warmth on a particularly damp day. It is, as ever, encouraging to know that many other workshops are also being put to good use, as evidenced by this collection of community gallery submissions from the past two weeks.

Made in oak, finished with 2-3 coats of shellac and 2 coats of wax

Cabinet to hold wife’s sewing machine accessories and supplies. White Oak, stained and glazed with waterborne finish.
Workbenches by William Thompson
Used fir 2×4’s from Home Depot and an old twisted 4×4 for the legs. Made the 4 year old and 2 year old grandson’s bench from left over material.

Shoe/General Storage Cabinet by Jim Munday
Made entirely from Thai “Mai Daeng” hardwood boards. Only available size 180*20mm finished. Very hard and difficult to work and extremely prone to tear out even with the sharpest tools. Worth it though when finished with fine grit paper and oiled with teak oil.

Music Stand by Steve Mees
A music stand for my wife. It is made of oak, The walnut inlay hides screws that fix the platen to the upright. The height adjuster is a (bought) rosewood viola tuning peg. All done with hand tools. Thank you Paul and team for giving me the confidence and knowledge to undertake it.
Adjustable Angled Craft Table by Kurt Schultz
A craft table which was based on a recent post in Paul’s blog. Using picture frame technique, secured the frame for the base. Currently used (and loved) by my wife for her diamond painting hobby…no more cramped neck!
