i bought a 14″ tenon saw last week along with a 24″ panel saw a brace and two wooden planes all five tools for the total sum of five pound i had to drive a bit to collect them but an hour round trip was worth it,they all require some cleaning and restoring but i’m really looking forward to getting them all back to working condition, dont give up on ebay the bargains are still out there.

17 February 2015 at 9:22 pm #124779Way to go Eddy. I can’t read the name on the cleaned up tenon saw. Can you tell us what maker it is?
18 February 2015 at 4:33 am #124793Nice find Eddy.
I truly envy those of you across the pond for your access to vintage tools. I live in the prairies and about the only local source is to haunt farm auctions. Unfortunatly, when anything nice come up, it’s generally pounce upon by antique dealers.
18 February 2015 at 1:33 pm #124799i guess we area abit spoilt for choice here Peter thats probably why we can still get a bargain its a pity the shipping is so expensive otherwise i’d be happy to send tools across the pond to people who can appreciate them.
18 February 2015 at 3:27 pm #124800I’ve found more finds in eBay UK than anywhere else. Yes I have to pay astronomical shipping costs. But we have not much but junk over here when it comes to saws. The auctions truly are rough as the collectors drive the prices way up. And car boot / flea market is becoming a thing of the past in most parts of the US. It is quite sad.
18 February 2015 at 3:52 pm #124803Hi Ben is the price still as high using the international shipping centre or a high price direct from the seller.
23 February 2015 at 3:48 am #124972EBay sellers are pretty honest and fair these days in terms of price and packaging, whether US or UK. The prices are fine, the shipping is pretty high.
I almost never can find any vintage tool (read: one that will work) from US. So what else am I going to do?
Shipping any tool seems to cost me 30 USD or 20 BP, or more for longer items such as hand saws.
Even finding Disston stuff is sometimes difficult, or sellers in US want $200 for one because they know a collector out there will pay it eventually.
