Hi, I’m from NE of England now residing in Canada. Upon going through some of my fathers things after he passed in the UK (a Master Carpenter in his time, among many other things). I found three small Volumes (soft printed B&W beige coloured magazine’s) called “The Woodworker”. One volume dated March 1925; July 1926 & March 1927. Published by Evans Brothers, Ltd. London, UK. Printed by Gibbs & Bamforth, LTD. St.Albans. The detailed instruction on how to build some beautiful furniture pieces & items is incredible. Reading some of the old Advertisements too are very interesting to say the least. Is there anyone I can contact to see if these are Collectibles? I look forward to hearing from you in due course. Many thanks, Pauline L.

Vol. I of The Woodworker: The Charles H. Hayward Years: Tools
22 June 2016 at 10:08 pm #138046Pauline, I’ve also got the books that Peter mentioned. They are a compendium of articles from “The Woodworker” during the time Charles H. Hayward was the editor, 1939-1967. So your magazines are even earlier than that. I suspect yours would be collectibles, but I don’t know how to find out. Maybe try searching on google or eBay or Etsy for something similar so you can see what they’re worth.
Hello Pauline, I dabble in antiques and collectables in Essex and I too have some magazines from the 1950s. I haven’t seen them fetching more than a couple of quid (£s) in antique centres however their value is way beyond the price. I should hang on to them or pass them on to someone who would appreciate them. So many things like this get tossed in the bin as toot ( garbage) by auction houses etc when they do house clearances.
