Anyone interested in watching Paul work at 'full speed'?

I’d love to see a video of Paul working full speed on a single project with no explanation or instruction. I’d love it if there was a Twitch.tv stream or youtube channel so we could just watch a master work for an hour or two. I feel that there are a ton of ‘conservation of movement’ techniques that are lost when he takes time to explain.
What do you think @joseph, @paul-sellers?

10 January 2015 at 12:43 am #123324I think that would be well worth the effort. But it might make me feel even worse about being so slow!
20 January 2015 at 3:14 pm #123717I have wanted to see that too, but perhaps there is wisdom in not. I have used woodworking machines almost exclusively for 15 years and now that I’ve been watching Masterclasses i realize that I was constantly stuck in the mindset “how can i do this as fast as possible.” Personally I’m done with production style woodworking so maybe its better for me not to start thinking, “how fast can I cut this tenon?”
20 January 2015 at 3:55 pm #123718I doubt he goes into “how fast can I do this” mode. His “real” speed probably isn’t much different then what we see. Maybe he could do one of those dovetailed candle boxes?
26 January 2015 at 10:35 am #123890We will definitely consider this.
Just so you know, he is much faster when he isn’t teaching or presenting.
26 January 2015 at 11:19 am #123893i would of loved to watch him cutting the mortise’for the bed he did last year.
28 January 2015 at 1:43 am #123967There’s that Youtube video of Paul making a complete dovetail box in like 14 minutes. I know he was “hurrying,” but wow.
10 February 2015 at 9:44 am #124527I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I’d LOVE to see a video of Paul building something full whack. Especially since I’ve started a cabinetmaking pre-apprenticeship this week, and everyone seems to insist that hand tools are just so slow. So… can’t wait for the video I’m going to optimistically assume is coming soon.
Great idea. I have seen a couple of times, especially when he is cutting tenons where he is moving at a significantly high pace. I wonder what it was like in the apprentice days when you Did not move at speed.
On a side note I like to focus on his watch to get a real timeline as to what is happening.
10 March 2015 at 5:06 am #125418I think a ShopCam ™ would be tremendous. In the past I have also suggested monthly Shop Hours via a Google Hangout where we could ask questions (just as one would go to a professor’s office hours). It’s free and easy to set up. Am I being greedy? Yea, probably.
