Hi all
I’ve just moved house (and workshop!) and found this piece of timber in the garage tucked on top of the rafters that the – now deceased – previous owner must’ve kept.
It’s very very heavy for its size. No distinctive aroma when planed. Hopefully somebody might recognise it! I’m in England, for reference
Thanks in advance
Looks like cherry. Put a drop of potassium hydroxide ( lye) on it and see if it turns dark red.
Drain cleaners and oven cleaners often have it as the active ingredient.
