I’m making a small jewellery box as a gift for my partner’s daughter whose leaving to go to Japan for a couple of years. My design incorporates splined mitre joints but I’ve not done those on this scale (2.5 inches wide stock).
I suspect that I’d need to make some jig to ensure accuracy of the 45% angle. What I can’t work out is whether cutting the stock vertically or horizontally leads to a more accurate joint, or whether the 45% accuracy should come from a planning jig?
Any ideas?
Also do you know of any videos or articles that may explain the process?
