Hi all,
I finished my workbench a couple of weeks ago and here it is. Made entirely with hand tools from pretty ratty pine 4x2s from my local builders merchant. It probably took me about 3 months of evenings and weekends and I couldn’t be happier with it. I mean it’s not perfect, you could probably fit your arm in some of the gaps, but it’s solid and flat and I made it.
Thank you Paul for remotely teaching me the skills to achieve this.
I got the Record 52 1/2 quick release vise from a car boot sale for ÂŁ10 covered in rust. Cleaned up and repainted it works great, very lucky find!
Now to make a stool!
Congratulations on building the biggest tool you’ll ever use – your bench. Looks like you did a nice clean job of it out of ratty pine.
That looks really good.
Looks like you are assembling quite a collection of planes. 🙂
Thanks guys, I think the photo covers up the sins.
I have a growing collection of planes, but that’s another story perhaps. The way I see it though, I probably bought all my hand tools for less money than even a single pretty mediocre machine. ?
A band saw would probably be useful, but I feel like I have to earn it first!
