I made a new handle for my hand drill because the stock one was too small and my hand would cramp up if I used it for a while. I had a mahogany blank left over from a turning project which was just the right size.
In looking at the picture, I noticed that I missed the knob behind the gear. I’ll have to replace that so everything matches. 🙂
Very nice. 😉
I take it you have a woodturning lathe?
You made such a nice job off handle . I think it would be nice if you matched the other knob and handle.
I turned it on the lathe.
I taught myself to turn over about 3 or 4 years. In many ways its alot like hand tool work. You can only aquire the skills by practice, you need to understand the grain and stucture of the wood and you need to know how to sharpen and maintain your tools. (and it’s alot of fun).
I would love a lathe I have no room though.
I have had a couple of gose and very addictive.
Also you can produce something quite quickly.
I made quite a few pens when I first started. I called it the crack cocaine of woodworking. You can turn out a pen in 45 minutes, and then you need another hit. 🙂
Love your description Peter. ;D
Have you ever used acrylic Blanks some wonderful colours. Then again some wonderful woods. 😉
