if i had joints like that on a chest of drawers i’d get in so much trouble for leaving the drawers open all the time just to show them off
That was my first bit a woodwork in about Month not 100% .
The joint dose look special.
I am looking to find other joints I can have a go at and post here as well as face book.
Would be nice to see other people examples.
Mark, the houndstooth dovetail is very snazzy. Really good looking joint.
i hope mine turn out that tight Mark ,ive just bought a 1/8″ chisel ,as i want to use it on a free standing bathroom cabinet ,its been in the planning for over a year i must get round to getting it started ,keep up the insperational work Mark.
Not done anything much in months.
I also had to fettle the mortise gauge so the pins would be under 1/8″ apart.
Standard mortise gauge only go just under 1/4″.
I have cut out a MINI dashboard for a friend at work. Mainly used electric jigsaw. Refined with rasp files and block plane.
In need of some dovetail practise.
These done pin first my original aim was to see how fast I could do but those dovetails ended badly Still took 5 mins. Those pieces on right picture my failed attempts at dovetails
In the end took time tuned out ok.
Just goes to show you need to have accuracy before speed.
After doing the 1/8″ mortise and tenon the other week I’m looking for a 1/16″chisel to see if I can do a 1/16″ mortise and tenon for another challenge. I may have to get an 1/8″ chisel and grind sides down so ends up 1/16″.
Don,t have a fire but some of those dovetails deserve to go in a fire.
