Has anyone here happened to use this vise. What do/did you think of it? Is it worth $100, or should I go with something different.
My current vice was a 30$ cheap piece of junk from Lowes. It has terrible racking to it, and the jaws don’t close square. What a waist of money. I don’t have a front apron to connect a vise to, and wit will need to mount to a overhang I have. That is what I was looking at this one
I haven’t used this exact vise, but it sounds like we took the same path to get to a good vise. I also tried the cheap vises (3 of them, spending a bit more each time) before I got a good one. I finally got the Rockler 9″ Quick Release Workbench Vise, so a somewhat different model than you’ve listed. The Workbench vise lists for $160, but I was able to catch it while on sale for $30 off list price.
To make a long story short, I’m delighted with the workbench model. It has been a pleasure to use compared to the other models I’ve tried. Good luck in your search!
I used a similar vise to that for many years until I bought a steel quick release vise last November. I would never willingly go back. The vise I bought is the 9 inch vise on this page:

I tried out mounting it proud of the front of the bench as Paul recommends and I quite like that as well.
