I picked up a set of Narex mortice chisels today, these have a really different profile and are quite thick compared to my bench chisels. The whole set put me back around 80 dollars.
I finally found my no.5 jack plane for 50 dollars off eBay, it’s a type 10 whatever that means, apparently made prior to WWI. Looking forward to getting it!
Brian, the handles are a bit big but for whacking with a mallet I think they will be okay, first thing I did was cut a mortise when I got them home. I’m going to keep the bevel they way it is for a while before messing with them. I checked the bevel and they are honed to 25 degrees. I have always been under the impression that mortice chisels should have a 30 or 35 degree angle.
First project is going to be a small hall table or a night stand.
I let my 1/2″ fall off the brench last summer
Two stiches.
