    Hello everybody,

I’ve just started my woodworking hobby and I’m in the middle of getting some tools to get started.

Since the famous plough planes are really expansive I’ve been looking at some cheaper G12-030’s.

I’ve found one for around €30,-
Unfortunatly it only comes with one blade, does anybody know if these blades are still available some where or what size or type number they had?
So far I havent been able to find anything on the internet.

    I’m located in the Netherlands.

I’d appreciate any help I can get.

    With kind regards,

    Joost

Paul Has a post on the similar 13-030 here:

The numbering on these planes is mostly a factor of the number of cutters that came with it.

Since the plane has no mechanical adjuster you aren’t restricted to any particular brand that has or lacks special grooves or notches. Almost any cutters will work.

In one of the pictures he shows the plane being used with a cutter from a Record 044c , Andi replacement packs are still available for those.

It is sometimes worth calling some of the second hand tool websites, as they generally have more stock on hand than they show on their web pages.
Just out of curiosity, have you tried to see if you can mount a thin chisel in there? Try it backwards if the handle gets in the way, see if it is held securely. If that seems to work, then find a cheap / broken chisel and get the blade cut to a suitable length.
These were on secondhandtools.co.uk but no price given.

Another option is to get a blade for a wooden rabbet plane and sharpen the thin end. You may see what I mean better in the picture. It was originally an 18mm plane, but the thin portion of the blade was 6mm. I normally use this with a chisel guard over the 18mm end.
Blade details are at the bottom of this webpage.

    Thank you for your replies.

The article about the 13-030 actually made me notice this plane in our local ebay.
The little cut at the end of the blade in the pictures made me think it must be some special blade.

But judging from your comments you can mount just about any blade in there as long as its fits and is flat.

I dont have the plane yet, heck I havent even bought it yet. But since the one I was looking for only came with one blade I was looking for more info on that before dropping money on something I wont be able to use without trowing a lot of money against it.

I thank you both again your information has been of great help.

    With kind regards,

    Joost

Joost, I might be able to help you out. I have a Stanley 13-030 with all the cutters that I don’t use anymore. Works really well, but I prefer my Record 044 because it’s prettier 😁 I live in Belgium, so postage should be reasonably priced. If you’re interested, send me a private message (in Dutch).
