Starting to make sketches come to life in a prototpye for the leg/tenon joints. I purchased a plan, but still made my own sketches to try and force myself to think through the steps. Glued up some 2x and fillers to rough size, and bored out bulk of the 1″ mortices. Although some adjustments will need to be made, it was a good exercise just to make sure I had the mechanics of the joint down.
Table top will be bought already glued up, 1-1/4″ live edge ash, the trees are being killed off by the emerald ash borer here in Ontario. My wood supplier will cut a wide slab for the two outside pieces and fill in the middle to create the top. Both aprons will have nice shallow arches. http://gibsontimberframes.com/store.html To have a look at type of table.- This topic was modified 7 years, 6 months ago by BrianJ.

You must be logged in to view attached files.Well we finally have secured the apron stock at 1-3/4″ thk, the solid legs at 3-5/8″ sq, and the live edge top we just picked up this evening. One small knot I filled with epoxy. Will get two coats of shellac, and i think flat latex acrylic although I may make a custom mix as even the low lustre i have tried has to much shine for me. Will work on getting top done and start finish the templates for the aprons which have the shallow sweeping arches.

You must be logged in to view attached files.Aprons all cut to size an planed. Legs have all been marked however i have a small difference in the plan vs physical size of the legs, so now I am reviewing dimensions. Plan is based on 3-1/2″ legs, I have 3-5/8.
I know it will change based on where i put my layout lines, i have put them temporarily registered on the out side face, but that will change the internal spacing im i have my math right. Thats it for day however, other plans will take over.Attachments:
