Here is a dovetail box tissue holder. The raised panel on the top is attached and the tissue box is inserted from the bottom, it is a friction fit.
It is red oak with a shellac/wax finish.

Wow! Really nice! The joints look great. I can’t figure out how the top is put on. I made something like that for square tissue boxes back in my power tool days using box joints. Can you tell me how thick the wood is in your box?

@mattmcgrane I wondered the same thing. I’m guessing this is four dovetailed sides and the lid is a “raised panel” but with a rabbet all the way around that lets it down into sides. Maybe Jim will tell us. That uniform, 1/8″ thickness left between the rabbet and the bezels and crisp lines on the lid show this was executed very finely indeed!
