Sandy, I will probably finish this with Danish oil and maybe shellac.
Here is a little table i plan to use to store the tool box on, underneath the workbench. It will have a drawer and a shelf underneath. I will also taper the legs to make it look fancier than it is. It’s made from left over 2×4’s and 1×4’s. The dimensions are, 24 x 18 x 18. The drawer will be 21 x 15 x 2 3/8…

I finished up the drawer pulls this morning and gave them a coat of boiled linseed oil. The color of the cherry really popped. Hopefully this weekend I should be able to glue everything up and start finishing the tool chest..
I’ll call this done. Learned a lot building this and finishing it. I enjoyed it a lot. Can’t wait to start another project.

Great looking tool chest Dan, Is the chest to sit on the table under your work bench. Will you still have enough room to get tools in and out of the tool chest, or have i misunderstood on how you intend to locate it?

Thanks all! I suppose I’m not completely finished. I have to put a latch on the lid and handles to be able to carry the tool box.
@daveg This will be stored under my workbench on a small table with a drawer and a shelf. My workbench is just short of 40″ high, so I will have access to the drawers and shelf, but if I need to get into the top I will have to take it out from under the bench. I could keep the tool chest on the end of the workbench, but will loose work space. I have a small work shop, so being tidy is something I’m going to have to maintain.
