Lee Valley is offering free shipping for orders over $40. I placed my order two days ago and it just arrived. Happy New Year to me!
I always look out for these offers when I want to pick up some new clamps. Lee Valley are also now stocking some Gramercy tools- I picked up their veneer saw and some replacement blades for my bow saw.
I can’t wait to use the veneer saw- it’s a non-essential purchase but something that should make cutting veneers much more enjoyable and considerably easier on my marking knife.

With £15 Off… this Stanley Bailey 5 Piece Chisel Set looks nice too.
[/quote]
I have the Stanley low angle block plane and I think it’s a very well built tool, nicely finished. I also sent for those chisels yesterday.
@dmr400 just posted this deal. Thank you! FREE shipping! That’s like half the price saved 🙂
Hello all,
Was just browsing the US version of the Thorex hammer that Paul recommends, which is made/marketed by Vaughn Manufacturing here in the states. A pop up window informed me that on March 11th they will be having a 25% off sale with free shipping (They are calling it “Worship of Tools Day”).The 1 1/2″ hammer that Paul suggests (which I’ll be ordering) can be found at:
http://www.vaughanmfg.com/shopping/Products/1-12-Nylon-Face-Hammer__NT150.aspx
The double sided soft/hard faced hammer (which I already have and use a lot) can be found here:
http://www.vaughanmfg.com/shopping/Products/12-OZ-Soft-Face-Hammer__SF12.aspx
I’ve set a reminder on my phone calendar and plan on ordering the 1 1/2″ hammer and a soft grey or red face for one side of it, as I really like having both in one tool.
I’m also thinking about ordering a hatchet/axe just for woodworking so I can keep my rough and ready one out by the woodpile and a sharper one in the shop. Anyone used the Supersteel Broad Hatchet (http://www.vaughanmfg.com/shopping/Products/Supersteel-Broad-Hatchet__SB2.aspx) or another hatchet/axe from Vaughn? @paul-sellers ?
Hope that this helps someone out!
