Whatever happened to using Wedges? Even the Egyptians used them to break stones apart. You can build bunkbeds with wedges and tear them down in 5 minutes so I agree with Shaker style. My Roubo will not have any metal in it when I’m through, will use wood wedges and offset dowels.

You must be logged in to view attached files.My Grandfather was one of the finest woodworkers in NW Pa. He never put any tool down on a work bench. He kept them where they belonged because they were very expensive, and planes and chisels could get chipped. He was very methodical when he worked and was always thinking ahead of the game. I learned how to fly using that same method, thinking where I’ll be not where I am. I’m the same with my tools and I find myself giving self scoldings for laying anything on a workbench therefore I don’t need a well to collect dirt.
