Best of luck with it Rob but if it were mine I thnk I’d give it a go and if not happy with it then either a new cheapy or like me, get a £20 quid Stanley from ebay and fettle it. Say an hour’s work and you have a plane for life. Atb.
9 February 2016 at 11:36 pm #134673Sorry been busy Francesco. I usually use Tuffsaws but I did get a set of replacement blades direct from Recordpower once and they were more than sufficient. Italy I can’t help you with I’m afraid but if I lived in such a beautiful country I’d be out most of the time.

8 February 2016 at 5:37 pm #134647I have one Francesco and I am very happy with it. Set it up properly and it will serve you well.
8 February 2016 at 5:34 pm #134646This should help Rob. https://paulsellers.com/2012/10/questions-answered-on-corrugated-soles/
17 January 2016 at 12:09 pm #133954If you pop into Boots or Talati’s up the the Heathway you can buy a crepe bandage that’s 1/2″ taller than a Jolly Green Giant/Heinz can. Makes the perfect tool for a one handed wipe across the top as a can is more stable.
13 January 2016 at 9:12 am #133881That’s quite a chunk really Ben, assuming it’s about 6″ long. It can be fixed easily enough if it’s a combi square but I’d re-purpose it if it’s a tri-square or you’ll forever have these issues.
11 January 2016 at 1:49 pm #133806Can I recommend the Henry Taylor Slipstone Set to you. They are teardrop shaped and the radii are 1/16″ – 3/16″ and 3/16″ – 1/2″ and can be bought in the US here

11 January 2016 at 11:17 am #133799From the pic Ben, it seems to me as if the pins are marked out of square and also a tad, 1mm or so, too long. Have you checked the square for squareness?
11 January 2016 at 11:06 am #133798Thanks Dan but it really is so simple to make. Mine was from a scrap of walnut and is so light and comfortable in the hand but as I said it is only a basic one.
I did in fact look at that Veritas one Dan but roughly what you pay in the states we would pay the same in GBP so £60 for the tool plus the 8-blade set was a bit out of my range. Unless I risked serious injury from the FPO for over spending. She carries a pretty mean right hand and does a good impression of Sugar Ray Leonard when she’s annoyed!
I would appreciate you letting me know how you get on with it, a kind of informal review if you like, as I’m still harbouring desires about it. The thought occurred to me Dan, have you got a slipstone set for keeping the blade edges nice and true as that is so important?
6 January 2016 at 6:51 pm #133723Here’s the one I made Dan and I did consider making it nice and shiny and maybe I will one day. The wood = scrap – the cutter = cut from a Bahco scraper – the wingscrew = £10 with p&p. Ouch but worth it.
4 January 2016 at 9:43 pm #133639See how you get on with your remedials Jay Doubleya but if you’re interested Toolnut do a set of 8 new ones for £37.50 or if not Toolbazaar have a set of 7 decent looking secondhand ones for £23.
3 January 2016 at 1:16 pm #133595I appreciate the parenting thing Bill, I’ve had 45 years of it and not much sign of any let up yet.
Forget the equations but you can work out how much force I need to apply to the outside circumference of this pint glass to stop it from slipping out of my fingers if you like.
I’m sure your shims will work out just fine even though you might have to pare the leading edges a tad to ease fitment. Be nice to see it all assembled and square. Wish you well.
