I’m in Spain. I don’t mind spending some reasonable amount of cash for good quality clamps I could use for a long time.
I plan of jointing small panels, this site projects glue ups, etc.
My main concern or choice here was about those Jorgensen clamps vs the Silverlines given the similar prices.
I can buy them from fine-tools or dictum the former and from amazon the latter.
For around 9 euros more I can buy Dubuque or Juuma, that I understand are clearly better made, so maybe that’s my answer? Thanks
P.S. I’d prefer not having to make them myself at this point.

I have recently installed a second hand Record and it has some looseness but it doesn’t affect how it works.
After disassembling it for cleaning and putting it backk together I had problems with the quick release not engaging at the first try, as you mentioned.
I retensioned the spring following the instructions in this video and now works great:

May that is of some help. And… it’s ready to use..
Some trouble retensioning the quick release spring was solved thanks to this video (min 3:56):

Two pine jaws (one lined with textured leatherette) will suffice for now.
So, one more Record 52 1/2 back to work.
I’ve attached a picture of my small “jewellers” vise with lined wooden jaws that has served me ok to this moment. With the projects it helped build. Thanks again to all that answer

You must be logged in to view attached files.Thanks. It arrived last week and now it’s ready for cleaning.
I’ll need to also straighten the screw cover, that is twisted but everything else is ok, apart from some paint loss and the stains.
It works fine (I tried it upside-down on the bench).

A 52 1/2 E. Not a nice face but the parts look right and got it for 60 GBP with the buy it now option (plus aroung 45 shipping and customs if everything goes well).
I’ll try and post when received/installed.Thanks again.
Jose
P.S. I knew I had to do this. Just needed a little push.
